Zhangjiajie Hehua International Airport is about 40 minutes from Wulingyuan and has direct flights from several major Chinese cities. Most visitors also arrive by train: Zhangjiajie West railway station connects to Changsha in about three hours and is the main high-speed gateway. Inside Wulingyuan, free shuttle buses connect the main park gates, trailheads and cable-car stations. The park is big, so you will use buses and cable cars as well as your feet. 3 The must-sees in Zhangjiajie National Forest Park 张家界国家森林公园必看

Wulingyuan is the heart of the park and a UNESCO World Heritage site. Start early at Yuanjiajie, where the Hallelujah Mountain pillar stands above the clouds and looks exactly like the floating peaks from Avatar. A 30-minute cable car rises from the city center to the summit, where you can walk the cliffside glass path and look straight down through the floor.
