This is the single most useful sentence to memorize before your trip. The reason the desk scans your passport at check-in is not bureaucracy for its own sake. The scan is the registration. 2 Which hotels can take you, and which cannot 哪些酒店能接待你、哪些不能

The honest truth is that the property itself often does not know this is going to be a problem. The owner said yes on the platform. The platform took the payment. 3 How to filter before you book 预订前怎么筛

Three filters cut your risk sharply. First, look for an "accepts foreign guests" or "foreigners welcome" toggle on the booking platform when one is exposed. Use it when present. 4 At the front desk, what actually happens 前台那几步到底怎么走

Bring the original passport. Photocopies, photos on a phone, and scans are all refused. The clerk scans the passport and the registration goes in electronically. It takes seconds, and you usually get the passport back right away.带护照原件。复印件、手机里的照片、扫描件一律拒收。店员扫描护照，登记就电子入档，几秒钟搞定，护照通常立刻还给你。

You may be asked to fill in or sign a small registration slip. The clerk writes or pastes in your passport number, nationality, and the dates of your stay. Sign where indicated. A meaningful share of mid-range and most budget properties still do not accept Visa, Mastercard, Apple Pay or PayPal at the desk. If you plan to pay the deposit and the room with a foreign card, confirm before you arrive. A short message to the property is enough: "Can you confirm the desk accepts Visa or Mastercard for the room and the deposit?" Cash deposits are refunded in cash on check-out. Card pre-authorizations fall off your statement in roughly 7 to 30 days, depending on the bank. Alipay or WeChat Pay pre-auth blocks release almost immediately. 6 Staying in an apartment or with a friend 住在公寓或朋友家

Article 39 covers this case too. Many cities now support online filing. The main path is the National Immigration Administration's 12367 service, accessible through its WeChat mini-program and official account. Save the hotel's address in Chinese characters, both on your phone and on paper. Most taxi drivers cannot read pinyin street names, and this is what you will show them. Show the Chinese, point at the map, and the ride is calm. Show only pinyin and the conversation goes nowhere.把酒店的中文地址同时存到手机里、抄在纸上。大部分出租车司机看不懂拼音路名，他们要看的就是中文。出示中文，配合地图指一下，全程顺；只给拼音，对话就无法推进。

Get the property's WeChat before you arrive, when possible. A real hotel desk will share it without hesitation. WeChat lets you send the address, share your live location, and message the front desk if your flight is late. It is the most useful channel you have in China.尽量在抵达前加上酒店的微信。正规酒店前台不会拒绝。微信既能发地址、又能共享实时位置，航班晚点时还能直接给前台留言。它是你在中国最有用的一条沟通渠道。

Carry a photocopy of your passport photo page separately from the original. If the original is at the front desk for a scan and you need the number for a form, you can read it from the copy without standing there waiting.把护照首页复印件和原件分开放。原件在前台扫描时，你需要填个表要护照号，看一眼复印件就能写，不用傻站着等。

Print your booking confirmation. Screenshots die when the battery dies.
